Ahly hit back to reach final

Al-Ahly became the first CAF Confederation Cup finalists from Egypt after defeating Cameroonians Coton Sport 2-1 in Cairo Sunday.

The come-from-behind victory at the Cairo Stadium, coupled with a 1-0 first-leg win last weekend, took the 'Red Devils' through 3-1 on aggregate.

They will face Sewe Sport twice more in the decider having won and drawn against the Ivorians in the group phase of the second-tier African club competition.

Coton, who have never beaten Ahly in six meetings, stung the home side by taking an early lead through Joseph Kombous.

But Burkinabe Moussa Yedan equalised before half-time and Amr Gamal got the match-winner and tie-clincher 12 minutes from time.

Ahly, who boast a record 18 CAF titles, are competing in the Confederation Cup having been demoted after losing a Champions League final-round qualifier.

Sewe drew 0-0 with 2012 Confederation Cup winners AC Leopards in Congo Brazzaville on Saturday to squeeze through 1-0 on aggregate.

ASEC Mimosas were the last Ivorian club to reach a CAF final, defeating Zimbabweans Dynamos to win the 1998 Champions League.

Fixture congestion means the first leg of the final in Abidjan will be staged only at the end of November with the return match one week later in Cairo.
