Charlie Austin scored his eighth Premier League goal of the season before seeing red as Queen's Park Rangers won 2-0 at home against Burnley on Saturday.

Austin had helped Leroy Fer open the scoring six minutes after the break and gave QPR a two-goal cushion on 74 minutes but just over a minute later was walking off the pitch after a second yellow card.

It was only QPR's fourth win of the season and gives them a boost in their battle for top-flight survival, moving them out of the drop zone.

Harry Redknapp had added striker Bobby Zamora to QPR's starting line-up against fellow Premier League newcomers Burnley.

Zamora, who was left on the bench for the midweek defeat to Swansea after recovering from a back problem, took his place up front alongside Austin, who was playing against his former club.

Mauricio Isla replaced Nedum Onuoha in QPR's only other change, as Burnley boss Sean Dyche brought Ben Mee in for Stephen Ward at the back.

QPR enjoyed most of the early possession although Burnley's Ashley Barnes missed a seventh-minute effort just after Fer's shot off a Joey Barton pass was blocked.

Burnley also came close through Mee and George Boyd before the break.

After the break Isla shot wide but after 51 minutes but the hosts got the breakthrough when Fer picked up Austin's cross with his deflected shot getting past Thomas Heaton in Burnley's goal.

But in a busy seven-minute spell Austin scored on 74 minutes, sandwiched between two yellow cards in quick succession, which left his side reduced to ten men for the last fifteen minutes.

QPR's South Korean left-back Yun Suk-Young's right footed shot from the left side of the box was saved five minutes from time.

And in the dying minutes Danny Ings' header went just wide, as Mee's last-gasp effort was saved in the centre of goal.

Burnley were condemned to take QPR's spot of second from bottom of the table after their seventh loss in 15 games this season.
