Martinez hints at Eto'o Everton exit

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has indicated that Samuel Eto'o could be about to leave Goodison Park after revealing that two clubs have shown an interest in the veteran Cameroonian striker.

Eto'o, 33, missed Everton's FA Cup third-round penalty shootout defeat at West Ham United on Tuesday and Martinez said that his future at the club was under discussion.

"With Samuel, we have a really good relationship and we are looking at his situation," Martinez told reporters in the wake of Everton's 9-8 defeat on penalties after a match that ended 2-2 following extra time.

"We had a couple of clubs contact us in the last 12 hours so I decided it was better now to leave him out of the squad and allow us a different focus in the group.

"We will decide (in the) next few days the next step. He's been fantastic for us, we've got a really good relationship and we will see what's (the) next best step for both."

When asked if Eto'o had played his last game for Everton, Martinez replied: "No, I wouldn't say that."

Former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Eto'o signed a two-year contract with Everton last August and has made 20 appearances to date this season, scoring four goals.
