Cup of Nations proving a success, says Renard

The Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea is proving a "great success" in the eyes of Ivory Coast coach Herve Renard.

Organised at the last minute in the tiny central African state after Morocco's refusal to host over fears of the spread of the Ebola virus, there were concerns that the event would be marred by poor crowds and organisational issues.

But, speaking on Friday, Renard said: "Like everyone who is passionate about football, I watch all the games on television and I've quite liked what I've seen in terms of the atmosphere from the pictures.

"Personally, we have no problem because I think we are in one of the best hotels here in Malabo, so we are in magnificent surroundings.

"The stadium here is lovely and the atmosphere was very, very good in the first match.

"I hope that it remains like that and for the moment I think it's a great success, especially if you look back and see how things happened to reorganise the competition and find a country to host it."
