Gomis stretchered off after collapse at Spurs

Swansea City's French striker Bafetimbi Gomis was stretchered off after collapsing on the pitch in the early stages of his side's Premier League game at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.

The France international, 29, was given oxygen by medical staff after falling to the ground shortly after Spurs took a seventh-minute lead, but appeared to be conscious and talking as he was taken from the pitch at White Hart Lane.

Gomis has a history of collapsing, having fainted three times during his spell with former club Lyon.

White Hart Lane was the scene of a dramatic episode in March 2012 when Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie.

Although his heart stopped for 78 minutes, he made a full recovery, but had to retire from professional football later that year.
