AC Milan announce Lyon friendly, China dates

AC Milan will play French Ligue 1 side Lyon in a pre-season friendly on July 18 at the Stade Gerland, the Serie A club announced Saturday.

Seven-time European champions Milan have just endured one of their worst seasons to date, finishing in mid-table and missing out on European competition altogether next season.

Coach Filippo Inzaghi was sacked last week and replaced by former Sampdoria handler Sinisa Mihajlovic, who will take charge several weeks before their pre-season tour of China between July 21-31.

Milan's first game on the trip will be against bitter city rivals Inter Milan, for whom Mihajlovic played at the tail end of a career which included spells with Roma and, notably, Sampdoria and Lazio.

The fixture will be played at Longgang Stadium, Shenzhen on July 25. Five days later Milan will play Real Madrid at Shanghai Stadium.

Milan's second pre-season tour will be at the Audi Cup in Munich.

Mihajlovic's side are scheduled to meet Bayern Munich on August 4 and then either Real Madrid or Tottenham a day later.
