Gordon signs new Celtic deal

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon signed a two-year contract extension with the Scottish champions on Wednesday.

Gordon joined the Glasgow club on an initial two-year deal in 2014 and the Scotland international's impressive form last term has been rewarded with an improved deal that will keep him at Parkhead until 2018.

The 32-year-old's extension completes a remarkable comeback from a career-threatening knee injury.

He had missed almost three seasons with the injury before reviving his career with Ronny Deila's team to such an extent that the former Sunderland and Hearts star won the Scottish Football Writers' player of the year award last season.

"I am absolutely delighted to extend my contract with Celtic, such a fantastic football club. I have enjoyed my first year immensely at Celtic," Gordon told Celtic's website.

"It has been great to enjoy success already and I'm looking forward to giving everything to bring more good times to our supporters who have given me such a tremendous welcome to the Club."

Deila added: "He was my first signing as Celtic manager and he's made a great contribution to our success.

"Craig's a top-class goalkeeper and we're lucky to have him here at Celtic."
