Belgium take top FIFA ranking from Argentina

Belgium are now the best team in the world, according to the latest FIFA rankings published on Thursday. The Red Devils have moved up two places to replace Argentina at the top of the rankings, the first time they have earned that honour.

The South Americans drop to third with world champions Germany retaining second place.

Belgium have been rewarded for their Euro 2016 qualifying victories over Andorra (4-1) and Israel (3-1) last month.

The biggest movers in the top 10 were Chile, though, who climbed four places to fifth thanks to last month's Copa America qualifying victory over Brazil, who drop a place to eighth.

FIFA Rankings as of November 5:

1. Belgium (+2)

2. Germany

3. Argentina (-2)

4. Portugal

5. Chile (+4)

6. Spain

7. Colombia (-2)

8. Brazil (-1)

9. England (+1)
