Flu-hit Mandzukic out of Sevilla trip

Flu-hit Mario Mandzukic has added to depleted Juventus's woes after being ruled out of their Champions League trip to Sevilla on Tuesday.

Mandzukic was expected to play a role for the Bianconeri against Sevilla, where a draw will see the Italians secure top spot in the group ahead of Manchester City.

The Croatian's absence now paves the way for Spain striker Alvaro Morata to start alongside on-form Argentinian Paulo Dybala, although coach Massimiliano Allegri has also included fellow striker Simone Zaza in his travelling party, which was unveiled on Monday.

Juventus, last season's beaten finalists, lead City by two points and need just a draw at the Sanchez Pizjuan to avoid the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the knockout phase thanks to their better head-to-head record against the English side.

"Finishing top of the standings could give us a favourable draw in the first knockout round and for that reason we have to come back with a positive result on Tuesday night," defender Leonardo Bonucci told the club's website.

Juventus are also missing midfielders Sami Khedira, Hernanes and Roberto Pereyra through injury.

Both Juventus and City are qualified for the last 16 already, but Sevilla are looking for a result as they bid to secure third spot and a place in the Europa League.
