Milan's Niang to undergo ankle surgery

AC Milan forward Mbaye Niang will undergo an operation on his right ankle on Friday after being involved in a car accident last week, his club announced on Monday.

Milan did not confirm whether the operation was directly related to the accident in which he was involved, but they had previously said he came away from the car crash with injuries to an ankle and his right shoulder.

French striker Niang, 21, will undergo an operation on Friday in Amsterdam but his club did not indicate how long he is likely to be on the sidelines.

Niang, who did not play in Milan's 2-0 Serie A defeat to Sassuolo at the weekend, has scored eight goals in 20 appearances this season in all competitions.
