No way, Jose! Reds boss blasts Yokohama spoiling tactics

Urawa Reds manager Mihailo Petrovic accused his opposite number of "copying Jose Mourinho" by deploying spoiling tactics in a frustrating 0-0 J-League draw at Yokohama F-Marinos on Sunday.

Coming off an impressive midweek victory over holders Guangzhou Evergrande in the Asian Champions League, the Reds surrendered top spot in Japan after huffing and puffing to no avail in Yokohama.

"It was like playing against Kofu," growled Petrovic, referring to the perennial strugglers Ventforet.

The Serb then laid into Yokohama's French coach Erick Mombaerts.

"There was only one team trying to play football out there," barked Petrovic, accusing Mombaerts of deliberately looking to stifle the game, a charge often made against former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach Mourinho.

"Maybe their coach has been watching Jose Mourinho too closely," he was quoted as saying by Japan's Kyodo news agency.

The result saw Urawa slip from first to third on 13 points after six games in the first stage of the J-League season.

Former Japan striker Yoshito Okubo snatched a stoppage-time winner as Kawasaki Frontale beat visiting Sagan Tosu 1-0 to go top of the table.

Kawasaki leapfrogged Urawa after the pint-sized forward scored with a rare header four minutes into injury time, giving the home side 14 points.

Okubo's goal was a record 159th in the J-League, nudging him one in front of Sanfrecce Hiroshima's Hisato Sato in a contest set to continue throughout the year.

Kashima Antlers climbed above the Reds on goal difference after thrashing champions Hiroshima 4-1, while 2014 treble winners Gamba Osaka beat northern Japanese side Vegalta Sendai 3-1 away -- helped by a goal from Japan striker Takashi Usami.

Elsewhere, Omiya Ardija came from a goal down to beat Nagoya Grampus 2-1 while Vissel Kobe and promoted Avispa Fukuoka played out another turgid 0-0 draw.
