Coach Krammy stands aside at relegated Stuttgart

Jurgen Kramny will not be in charge when relegated Stuttgart drop down from the top tier of the Bundesliga to the second division next season, a club spokesman said on Sunday.

The 44-year-old was only called up as head coach last November to replace the sacked Alexander Zorniger.

"His contract is only valid for the first division," explained a Stuttgart spokesman.

"From now, he will return to take charge of the reserves."

Kramny stands aside with a record of six wins, five draws and 10 defeats to leave the three-time Bundesliga champions in 17th and second-last spot in the end-of-season table.

Stuttgart's proud record of 40 unbroken years in the top flight ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Wolfsburg.

On Saturday, Stuttgart's Australia goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak pulled off a string of saves, but it was not enough to deny the Wolves.

Andre Schuerrle boosted his chances of making Germany's Euro 2016 squad on Tuesday with two goals as Wolfsburg caught Stuttgart on the counter-attack.

Stuttgart forward Daniel Didavi sparked a late fightback with a 78th-minute goal.

Stuttgart were relegated alongside bottom side Hanover 96, with Eintracht Frankfurt finishing third-bottom and going into a two-legged play-off against Nuremberg, who came third in the second tier.
