Murray the man as Hibs win Edinburgh derby

Simon Murray's early goal proved enough to give Hibernian a 1-0 win over Edinburgh rivals Hearts in their Scottish Premiership clash at Easter Road on Tuesday.

Murray lashed the ball high into the net in the third minute and they clung on to that narrow advantage for the remainder of a frantic clash.

Victory saw Hibs leapfrog Hearts by one point into fifth place and they are now unbeaten in eight games against their local rivals.

The win came just days after Hibs' 4-2 defeat by Celtic in a Scottish League Cup semi-final at Glasgow's Hampden Park on Saturday.

The only goal of the game came when not all the crowd had got into Easter Road. Former Dundee United favourite Murray collected the ball in the Hearts penalty area, nutmegged defender John Souttar and fired home from 12 yards for his 11th goal this season but first in eight games.
