Aberdeen fail to put pressure on Celtic in Hibs defeat

Aberdeen missed the chance to close to within five points of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic as the Dons slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Hibernian on Saturday.

Celtic can now open up an 11-point lead ahead of their trip to Pittodrie next weekend when they host St Johnstone on Sunday as Aberdeen paid for a slow start to the second half at Easter Road.

Martin Boyle struck inside the first minute of the second period before Florian Kamberi added a second on the hour mark as Hibs moved to within two points of third-placed Rangers.

Rangers can move above Aberdeen on goal difference with victory at Hamilton on Sunday.

At the other end of the table, Simon Murray scored twice in the final six minutes as Dundee came from behind to beat Partick Thistle.

Ross County remain bottom, but salvaged a point from a 1-1 draw at home to Hearts, while Kilmarnock's revival under Steve Clarke continued with a 1-0 win at Motherwell.
