An Achilles tendon injury has ruled Uruguayan international defender Martin Caceres out of action until next season, Italian champions Juventus said on Friday.

Caceres picked up the injury during Juventus' 13th straight league victory, a 1-0 win at Genoa on Wednesday, and he was operated upon on Friday morning.

The Turin club said Caceres, who is out of contract in June, will miss the next five months action.

Beaten Champions League finalists last season, Juventus are currently locked in a battle with Italian league leaders Napoli for the 2016 title.
