Pienaar rejoins Moyes at Sunderland

South Africa's Steven Pienaar is to link up again with the man who brought him into English football after signing for Premier League side Sunderland until the end of the season, the north-east club said Friday.

The midfielder was a free agent after leaving Everton at the end of last season, having made almost 200 appearances for the Merseysiders during two spells at Goodison Park.

His latest move means Pienaar will be reunited with Sunderland manager David Moyes, the man who in 2007 first brought him to England from Borussia Dortmund when the Scot was in charge of Everton.

Pienaar started his professional career with South African club Ajax Cape Town before moving to the Netherlands where the 34-year-old won six domestic trophies, including two Eredivisie titles.

He subsequently signed for Dortmund before moving to Everton whilst he also had a spell at Tottenham Hotspur before returning to Goodison Park.
