Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes says there is reason for optimism ahead of Tuesday's Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain with Thomas Mueller and Kingsley Coman back after injury.

Germany star Mueller bounced back from five weeks out with a leg injury by setting up goals for Arturo Vidal and Coman as Bundesliga leaders Bayern beat Hanover 3-1 in Munich on Saturday.

Bayern lost 3-0 at PSG in September, which cost Heynckes' predecessor Carlo Ancelotti his job, so Bayern must beat the French giants 4-0 in Munich to win their group.

Both teams are guaranteed places in the last 16 of the Champions League and Heynckes was buoyed as Bayern bounced back from last Saturday's shock defeat at Borussia Moenchengladbach.

"I'm optimistic about our remaining games," said the 72-year-old with PSG the first of five games before the winter break.

"We had plenty of chances to score, which unfortunately we did not use, but I think our victory is deserved at this level.

"Overall, I must be satisfied - Thomas Mueller played again after a long time out, Kingsley Coman was injured for the last two weeks, Jerome Boateng is slowly returning to form."

After scoring Bayern's second goal on 67 minutes, Coman's dribble won the penalty which Lewandowski converted just before the final whistle as the 21-year-old Frenchman put in an outstanding display.

Poland hot-shot Lewandowski, who had a first-half goal disallowed for offside, has scored 14 goals in as many league games this season and claimed a new club record of seven goals in seven home games.

"It's a great achievement, it is gratifying how he continues to develop with us," commented Heynckes.

There was more good news for Franck Ribery.

The veteran winger came on for Coman in the 89th minute - his first appearance after two months following a knee injury - the 34-year-old is out of contract when the season ends.

PSG warmed-up for the trip to Munich with a 2-1 defeat at Strasbourg on Saturday -- their first league defeat this season.

However, Bayern defender Mats Hummels said a 4-0 win over the French remains an "unlikely wishful dream".

"But, of course we want to beat Paris, we want to show that we are Bayern Munich," added the Germany star.
