Garitano to leave Leganes at the end of the season

Leganes coach Asier Garitano has decided he will leave at the end of the season, the first division Spanish club announced on Tuesday.

Garitano led Leganes to promotion to the Segunda Division, Spain's second tier, in his first campaign in charge in 2013 before taking them up to the top flight three years later.

This season, Los Legionarios also pulled off a shock win over Real Madrid to reach the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, where they lost to Sevilla.

Leganes currently sit 17th in the La Liga table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone with two matches left to play.

A club statement read: "The coach of Leganes, Asier Garitano, told the club of his decision to end his time at the club, which began five seasons ago in Segunda Division B."
