McManaman joins West Brom from Wigan

English winger Callum McManaman has joined West Bromwich Albion from second-tier Wigan Athletic on a three-and-a-half-year contract, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old, man-of-the-match in Wigan's shock 1-0 win over Manchester City in the 2013 FA Cup final, underwent a medical on Wednesday.

West Brom did not announce the transfer fee, but British press reports said they had paid Wigan around £4.75 million ($7.2 million, 6.38 million euros).

"I'm really made up to have joined," McManaman told the West Brom website. "When the chance came to move to West Bromwich Albion and return to the Premier League, I couldn't turn it down.

"This is a great move for me and I hope the Albion fans will get to see the best of me. Albion are a great club, with a good tradition. I can't wait to get going."

McManaman, who has scored five goals in 23 league games this season, is the first player to join West Brom since Tony Pulis was appointed manager on New Year's Day.

The former Everton youth player could make his debut in Saturday's Premier League home game with Tottenham Hotspur.
