Roma buy Genoa's half of Bertolacci

Roma have moved to bolster their midfield by securing full ownership of Andrea Bertolacci, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday.

Bertolacci was co-owned by Roma and Genoa, for whom the midfielder played over the last three seasons and scored 12 goals in 88 league appearances.

A statement by Roma said: "AS Roma SpA has reached an agreement with Genoa Cricket and Football Club SpA to resolve the co-ownership of footballer Andrea Bertolacci in AS Roma's favor, in exchange for a fee of 8.5 million euros ($9.5m, £6m)."

Bertolacci is also a fledgling Italy international, having made his debut for the Azzurri in a November 2014 friendly against Albania at Genoa's Luigi Ferraris stadium.

Roma finished runners-up in last season's Serie A, securing the league's second automatic qualifying spot for the Champions League.
