Adelaide still winless in Australia's A-League

The Adelaide Reds remained bottom of Australia's A-League standings and have yet to win a game after a scoreless draw with the Newcastle Jets on Sunday.

Newcastle, despite not generating a shot on goal all match, stayed in fifth spot but only three points adrift of leaders Brisbane Roar.

The Jets rarely attacked but Adelaide, coached by former Barcelona midfielder Guillermo Amor, created few clear-cut chances and the best of them were thwarted by Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Birighitti.

Birighitti, a former understudy to Adelaide captain Eugene Galekovic, produced some stunning saves to deny Adelaide a breakthrough win.

Brazil's Henrique was Brisbane Roar's hero for the second time in a week during a 1-1 draw against Melbourne City at Suncorp Stadium on Friday.

After scoring the winner against Perth Glory in his comeback from injury, Henrique came off the bench to put a 70th minute equaliser past Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

A sublime brace of goals from Brazilian playmaker Gui Finkler lifted Melbourne Victory to second following a 2-1 win over Central Coast on Thursday.

Kevin Muscat's Victory dismantled the Mariners with ease even though they were missing marquee striker Besart Berisha.

Despite a late consolation goal by Matt Sim, Central Coast were never in the contest.

Western Sydney Wanderers won their fourth straight game with a 2-1 victory over Wellington Phoenix on Saturday to lie third on the standings.

Mark Bridge slotted home the late winner after setting up Italian Federico Piovaccari's earlier effort to eliminate Manny Muscat's first-half equaliser for the Phoenix.

Sydney FC played out a 0-0 draw with Perth Glory in searing heat in Perth on Saturday to drop to fourth spot.
