Melo released after night of observation

Inter Milan midfielder Felipe Melo was released from hospital on Sunday after being given the all-clear on a head injury suffered in a 1-0 home win over Genoa.

Brazil international Melo clashed with Chilean teammate Gary Medel during the opening half of Saturday's Serie A fixture at the San Siro and was replaced at half-time after reporting he was suffering dizzy spells.

Melo was taken to hospital but discharged on Sunday morning after being given the all-clear.

"Felipe Melo is fine and has already been dismissed following a night of observation at the hospital," said a Twitter post from Inter on the club's official website.

Before leaving the San Siro on Saturday Melo told reporters: "I don't remember a thing."

Medel was left with a nasty graze to the head before the Chilean suffered more pain in the second half after clashing with Genoa's Nicolas Burdisso.

Inter, who saw Danilo D'Ambrosio sent off late in the game for a second bookable offence, held on to go two points clear at the top of Serie A although Napoli will restore their one-point lead with a win at Bologna on Sunday.
