Frontzeck quits as Hanover boss

Michael Frontzeck has resigned as coach of Bundesliga strugglers Hanover, the club announced on Monday.

The 51-year-old, who only took over the reins five matches from the end of last season, said he felt he no longer had the confidence of his employers.

"Solidarity and confidence in our situation are necessary conditions to work successfully," he said, with his side second-from-bottom of the Bundesliga.

"Right now, I no longer feel that faith from the Hanover management."

Only Hoffenheim are keeping Hanover off the bottom of the table after Frontzeck's side picked up just 14 points from their opening 17 matches.

Germany entered its winter break following the weekend matches, in which Hanover lost 1-0 at home to champions and leaders Bayern Munich.

Hanover's players are not due to resume training until January 4, by which time the club expects to have named a successor.
