Brazilian-born goalkeeper Marinato Guilherme was called up to the Russia squad by manager Leonid Slutsky on Friday for the upcoming friendlies against Lithuania and France.

The 30-year-old, who has played for Lokomotiv Moscow since 2007, only received Russian citizenship last year.

Guilherme will compete with Igor Akinfeyev, Stanislav Kritsyuk, who is also yet to make his international debut, and Yuri Lodygin for a place in goal.

CSKA Moscow head coach Slutsky has been juggling the two jobs well since taking over last August, successfully reviving a European Championship qualification campaign that was flagging under Fabio Capello.

Slutsky has selected seven players from his club side, including 19-year-old midfielder Alexander Golovin, who made his debut in a friendly against Belarus last year.

Forward Alexander Kerzhakov, who is currently playing for Swiss club FC Zurich, is the only non-Russian Premier League player in the 29-man squad.

Injured midfielder Denis Cheryshev, who is currently on loan at Valencia from Real Madrid, will miss the friendlies, as will Schalke man Roman Neustadter, who is still trying to gain Russian citizenship.

Russia will host Lithuania on March 26 at Spartak Moscow's Otkrytie Arena, before taking on Euro 2016 hosts France at the Stade de France in Paris on March 29.

They begin their Euro campaign on June 11 against England in Marseille, before also facing Wales and Slovakia in Group B.
