Wallace, McKay, but no Griffiths in Scotland squad

Rangers pair Lee Wallace and Barrie McKay were named in Scotland's squad on Thursday for friendlies against Italy and France, but there was no place for Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.

Defender Wallace returns after three years in the international wilderness, while McKay earns his first call-up, but Griffiths misses out despite scoring his 40th goal of the season on Wednesday.

In Griffiths's absence, Charlie Mulgrew is the only representative in the squad from Scottish champions Celtic. Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes was also overlooked.

Gordon Strachan's Scotland, who failed to qualify for Euro 2016, play Italy in Malta on May 29 before tackling tournament hosts France in Metz on June 4.
