Japan romp to 7-2 win over sorry Bulgaria

Japan pulverised Bulgaria 7-2 in the four-team Kirin Cup friendly tournament Friday, with playmaker Shinji Kagawa scoring twice in an embarrassingly one-sided game.

Earlier, Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Denmark on penalties in a clash of teams who, like Bulgaria, missed out on a place in Euro 2016 which kicks off in France next week.

Southampton defender Maya Yoshida also netted twice in Japan's rout, while striker Shinji Okazaki, fresh from winning the English Premier League title with Leicester City, scored his 49th international goal.

Okazaki opened the scoring after just four minutes in Toyota with a glancing header despite the suspicion of offside, before a double from Borussia Dortmund forward Kagawa.

Yoshida's rare appearance on the scoresheet and further goals from substitutes Takashi Usami and Takuma Asano completed the destruction of a totally outclassed Bulgarian side.

Goals from Mihail Alexandrov and Ivaylo Chochev barely papered over the cracks for the visitors.

The Bosnians edged 1992 European champions Denmark 4-3 on penalties after the teams finished locked at 2-2 over 90 minutes, captain Haris Medunjanin smashing the winning spot kick past Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
