Colombian Pareja out as coach of MLS Dallas

Oscar Pareja is leaving FC Dallas after five seasons as coach of the Major League Soccer club, the Colombian reportedly departing for Mexican League side Club Tijuana.

The 50-year-old South American, who has had various roles with the Dallas squad for most of the past 20 years, and the club agreed to part ways, the team said Monday.

Pareja guided Dallas to the 2016 US Open Cup and the regular-season points crown as well as four playoff berths in his five seasons in charge, which came after two seasons guiding the Colorado Rapids.

FC Dallas was eliminated in the first round of the MLS playoffs by Portland.

Pareja, who went 78-49 with 43 drawn, will take over as coach at Mexico's Club Tijuana, according to a report on Goal.com.

"This was a difficult decision for me and my family. FC Dallas has been our home for many years, but we felt it would be best for us to seek a different challenge which enables me to keep growing as a coach," Pareja said.

"This club and its players are heading on the right path and I have no doubt they will get there."
