Brighton defender Schelotto returns to Chievo on loan

Brighton right-back Ezequiel Schelotto has returned to Italian club Chievo on loan until the end of the season, the Serie A strugglers confirmed on Monday.

The 29-year-old had a one-year temporary spell with the Verona side from Inter Milan in 2014-2015 before joining Sporting Lisbon.

He joined Brighton from the Portuguese club in the summer of 2017 but his last competitive outing was at Liverpool in May last year.

Argentina-born Schelotto has spent most of his career in Italy with teams including Atalanta, Cesena, Inter and Chievo. He also has one cap for Italy which he earned against England in 2012, and played for the national Under-21 side.

Chievo were hit with a three-point deduction for false accounting earlier this campaign and are bottom of the table, with just one win and 42 goals conceded in 21 games.
