Congo forward Kakuta returns to Amiens

French-born Congo forward Gael Kakuta has completed his move from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano to Amiens, the Ligue 1 club announced on Friday.

Kakuta has signed a three-year deal but no transfer fee has been released. Local media say it is in the region of three million euros.

The 28-year-old, who played for Amiens on loan in the 2017-18 season when he scored six and made six assists in 36 appearances, began his career as a youth in Lens before a contentious move to Chelsea in 2007 when he was just 16.

He played just six Premier League games for the Blues before embarking on a series of loan deals, finally leaving in 2015 for Sevilla, Hebei China Fortune and Rayo Vallecano.

A youth player for France up to Under 21 level, Kakuta made the first of five senior appearances for Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly against Kenya in March 2017. He did not feature in the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
