Injury-plagued Czechs reshuffle team for Belgium test

The Czech Republic on Monday announced seven changes to the squad facing Belgium in a World Cup qualifier next month following a raft of injuries.

An ankle problem has ruled out Ondrej Kudela, who was set to return after a 10-match ban from international competitions imposed by UEFA in April.

The Slavia Prague defender, who missed Euro 2020 as a result, received the ban following his alleged racist abuse of Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara during a Europa League game in March.

Injuries have also ruled out his Slavia teammates Ondrej Kolar and Jan Boril, while Viktoria Plzen's Jakub Brabec is missing for personal reasons.

Coach Jaroslav Silhavy has called up seven more players after naming a 20-man squad last week.

These include three newcomers -- goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek and defender Filip Kasa from Plzen, and Sparta Prague defender Tomas Wiesner.

The Czechs host Belarus on September 2 before facing Group E leaders Belgium three days later.

The Czechs are second in the group with four points from three games.

They will also take on Ukraine in a friendly on September 8.

Silhavy is without a host of other players including Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick, who is suspended after his red card in a March qualifier, and injured Hoffenheim defender Pavel Kaderabek.
