Celtic book Scottish Cup clash with Rangers

Celtic will face bitter rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals after Giorgos Giakoumakis's double clinched a 3-0 win at Dundee United on Monday.

Ange Postecoglou's side dominated the quarter-final to extend their unbeaten domestic run to 30 matches.

The reward is a fascinating showdown with their Glasgow neighbours, while Hearts face Edinburgh rivals Hibernian in the other semi-final.

It will be the fifth time Celtic and Rangers have met in the Scottish Cup in seven years.

"We are in the semi-final, we have got Rangers, so on we go," Postecoglou said

"It will be massive. That was the prize on offer here, a semi-final at Hampden. Irrespective of who you play against, it's going to be a massive game."

Hearts and Hibernian will be meeting in the last four for the second time in three seasons.

It is the first time the Scottish Cup semi-finals have featured the two clubs from both Glasgow and Edinburgh in the same season.

The ties will be played on the weekend of April 16 and 17.

Celtic made the breakthrough in the 12th minute as Callum McGregor's angled strike from just outside the box took a deflection off Nicky Clark on its way into the net.

The Hoops stretched their advantage in the 58th minute when United keeper Benjamin Siegrist dropped a harmless Daizen Maeda cross at the feet of Giakoumakis, who knocked the loose ball over the line.

The Greek striker tapped in Celtic's third in the 88th minute after being set up by Karamoko Dembele.
