Ligue 1 strugglers Montpellier confirm Pitau as coach

Romain Pitau has been confirmed as coach of Ligue 1 strugglers Montpellier on Monday after four games as interim boss.

The southerners are 14th in the table after just four wins in 15 games played this campaign and are sitting one point above the relegation zone.

"Romain Pitau will remain the head coach until the end of the season," the club confirmed.

"He's the man for the job, we have confidence in him," club president Laurent Nicollin added.

Frenchman Pitau, 45, took over after Olivier Dall'Oglio was sacked on October 17, sixteen months after his arrival from Brest.

In his four games in charge the club took two points with draws against Reims and Clermont.

Montpellier, who won their only Ligue 1 title in 2012, travel to Lorient in their first match after the World Cup break on December 28.
