MLS 2023 schedule has St. Louis debut among Feb. 25 openers

Major League Soccer will open its 2023 campaign with 13 matches on February 25, including expansion side St. Louis City's debut and the Los Angeles Galaxy against defending champion LAFC.

The league, which will grow to 29 clubs next year, announced fixtures on Tuesday, with each team playing 34 matches before the concluding games on October 21 ahead of the MLS playoffs.

New York City FC will visit Nashville in the opening match of the season.

St. Louis City will open at Austin before making a home debut on March 4 against Charlotte.

City rivals LAFC and the Galaxy meet in "El Trafico" at the Rose Bowl.

LAFC will play the Philadelphia Union in a rematch of this year's MLS Cup Final -- won by the California club with Gareth Bale's extra-time header -- on September 23.

Former England and Manchester United star David Beckham's Inter Miami will start at home on February 25 against Montreal.

DC United, coached by Wayne Rooney, will host Toronto.

The MLS All-Star Game will be staged in Washington on July 19.

There will be a pause in the season from July 15 through August 20 for the Leagues Cup, a tournament featuring all MLS and Mexican top-flight clubs.

St. Louis City will join the Western Conference, with Nashville moving to the Eastern Conference.
