Football: Pirlo extends at Juve - report

Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has signed a new two-year deal that will see him remain with the Italian champions until 2016, reports said Friday.

Gazzetta dello Sport said Juventus, who crashed out of the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday after a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Benfica, have tied the Italy midfielder to a new deal that will expire in June 2016.

Pirlo joined Juventus in 2011 on a free transfer from AC Milan, with whom he won two Serie A titles and two Champions League crowns, in 2003 and 2007.

In his three-year spell in Turin Pirlo has won two league championships, with Juve on the verge of securing a third consecutive one under coach Antonio Conte, as well as two Italian Super Cups.

Juve have an eight-point lead on second-placed Roma with three games remaining.

Juventus can secure their 30th league crown either with a win over Atalanta on Monday or if Roma fail to beat Catania on Sunday.
