Germany's Adlung signs for Adelaide United

German midfielder Daniel Adlung has signed a two-year deal with Adelaide United in Australia's A-League, the club said on Thursday.

Adlung, 29, joins the Reds from 1860 Munich and has also played for VfL Wolfsburg, FC Energie Cottbus and Alemannia Aachen.

The midfielder has made a total of 280 appearances in the German second division, scoring 29 goals.

Adelaide head coach Marco Kurz said Adlung would bolster his squad's midfield depth.

"Daniel is a fantastic player with a great technique, has a lot of experience, and is someone who will strengthen our midfield options," Kurz said.

"He can play as a holding or offensive midfielder and is also very good on either wing."

Adlung joins the Reds' other overseas signings Ersan Gulum, Johan Absalonsen and Karim Matmour ahead of the new season kicking off on October 6.
