Austrian champions Salzburg on Monday named Adolf "Adi" Huetter as coach until the summer of 2016.

The 44-year-old Austrian will replace German Roger Schmidt, who takes charge of the team in Sunday's Cup final against St Poelten before joining German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on a two-year deal.

Huetter, who trained Salzburg youth teams from 2007-9, signed for minnows Groedig in summer 2012, guiding them to the first division in his first season and then helping them qualify for the Europa League this year with a third-placed finish.

The coach's first goal at Salzburg will be to lead the team from the qualifying rounds into the group stage of the Champions League.

One player who will not feature for Huetter is versatile Slovakian international Dusan Svento, who has signed for Cologne in the German Bundesliga.
