Swansea swoop for Scottish teenager

New Swansea coach Francesco Guidolin made his first signing for the Premier League club on Wednesday when Scottish 19-year-old Ryan Blair joined from Falkirk on a three-and-a-half year deal.

It was just last season that the midfielder broke into the first team at Falkirk, third in the Scottish second tier, and he is expected to join the under-21's at Swansea.

"It feels great. I never thought I would get the opportunity to join a Premier League club," Blair said after completing a medical.

"I want to kick on now and get myself some game time between now and the end of the season."

Jay Fulton, Stephen Kingsley and Botti Biabi all recently moved from Falkirk to Swansea.

"I played with Stephen, Jay and and Botti at Falkirk. The three being here will help me settle quicker," Blair told the Falkirk website.

Falkirk coach Peter Houston wished his former charge well.

Ryan has a lot of potential and will get the opportunity to continue his development at top class facilities," Houston said.
