Southampton's impressive Premier League form continued unabated on Saturday as they moved into third after thrashing Hull 4-1 for their fourth successive win to extend their unbeaten run to seven.

Their terrific run -- which has seen them only concede two goals in their 11 games -- has attracted the attention of England manager Roy Hodgson who called up three of them to his squad for the upcoming friendlies.

Two of them got on the scoresheet in the form of Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana, his a stunning individual effort, as Saints moved to within one of their best sequence of Premier League wins set back between January and March 1999.

Southampton, whose appointment of Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino as coach last season has proved an inspired one, made a bright start and were rewarded with a goal by Morgan Schneiderlin in the 16th minute.

Lambert, who has had a meteoric rise from playing in League One for Bristol Rovers four years ago to being selected for England, set him up, outjumping two Hull defenders and Schneiderlin was on hand to head the ball into the net.

Lambert, who has been at Saints since joining from Rovers when Southampton were also in League One, doubled their lead on the half hour from the penalty spot after Lallana was brought down by Hull 'keeper Steve Harper.

Lallana then illustrated why he had caught Hodgson's eye as he scored a superb solo goal.

Lambert fed him the ball 35 yards out and looked to be going nowhere when he initially drifted out to the left where he retained possession beating two defenders before cutting inside Egyptian international Ahmed Elmohamady and unleashed a shot which beat Harper.

Hull briefly threatened to make something of a game of it when Saints Kenyan international Victor Wanyama lost possession close to goal, though to be fair he had his back to goal when 'keeper Artur Boruc passed him the ball.

However, that was a false dawn as the Saints tore apart the Hull defence with both Lallana and Schneiderlin going close to doubling their tallies and a fourth duly arrived as Steven Davis wrapped up a superb performance from the hosts with a goal two minutes from time.
