A car crash left two people injured on Tuesday after an accident during filming at Germany's pre-World Cup training camp in north Italy, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed Tuesday.

Police in Italy's south Tirol said two people were injured, one seriously, after being hit by a car carrying German Touring Car Masters (DTM) driver Pascal Wehrlein and an unnamed member of Germany's World Cup squad.

Wehrlein and Formula One driver Nico Rosberg were visiting the German team in the south Tirol to film an advertisment for Mercedes Benz, who sponsor the DFB.

Rosberg and Wehrlein were driving separate cars, which each contained a member of Germany's World Cup squad, when the accident happened on a road closed to the public and those injured are thought to have been holidaymakers.

A DFB spokesman confirmed there had been a "serious accident", but none of the German squad had been hurt and they said they will be working closely with the relevant authorities as the incident is investigated

"The accident occured during a visit to the training camp of the German Football Association (DFB)," said Mercedes in a statement.

"DTM racing driver Pascal Wehrlein was driving on a closed road when he injured two people who had unexpectedly appeared on the track.

"Both people are receiving medical treatment and the driver wasn't hurt.

"We regret the accident and we wish those injured a speedy recovery."

The DFB are holding their 10-day training camp in the north Italian Alps which concludes on Saturday before their first World Cup match in Group G against Portugal in Salvador on June 16.
