Italy v Croatia halted as flares thrown onto pitch

The Euro 2016 qualifier between Italy and Croatia in Milan on Sunday resumed following a 10-minute stoppage after play was halted when fans began raining flares onto the pitch.

The San Siro clash was initially halted with 15 minutes remaining after Croatia fans started throwing flares onto the field, notably targeting Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Play was stopped for approximately 10 minutes before Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers, who had led the players from both teams to the sidelines, allowed the game to resume with the score at 1-1.
