A floodlights failure caused a 17-minute hold-up to the Europa League clash between Besiktas and Tottenham on Thursday.

The referee ordered the players off the Ataturk Olympic Stadium pitch in the eighth minute with the score at 0-0 leaving fans to make the best of the darkness by holding aloft cigarette lighters and mobile phones.

Both sides are already qualified for the knock-out phase regardless of the result although Besiktas can overhaul Tottenham to win the group if they defeat the Londoners.
