Italy police score with CL counterfeit swoop

Italian police said Saturday they had seized more than 250,000 counterfeit t-shirts and other merchandise bearing the logos of Champions League finalists Juventus and Real Madrid.

The haul was announced just hours before the Italian and Spanish champions go head to head for European football's biggest prize in Cardiff.

Four men have been charged with selling counterfeit goods, receiving stolen goods and fraud following the dismantling of the operation.

The fake items, produced near Juventus's Turin base, would have had an estimated sale value of around 2.5 million euros, half what officially licensed merchandise would retail for, police said in a statement.
