Tax filings by US Soccer show final coaching contract settlements for Jurgen Klinsmann and Bruce Arena from the Americans' failed 2018 Russia World Cup bid, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

US Soccer's tax-exempt status filing for the 2018 fiscal year showed the US Soccer Federation paid German star Klinsmann $3.354 million for the final year of his contract.

Klinsmann was fired in November 2016 after two opening losses for the Americans in final North American qualifying for the World Cup, but his contract ran through to the 2018 event, 20 months later, leaving him to collect the settlement last year.

Andreas Herzog, Klinsmann's assistant, received a settlement of $355,537 last year, according to the newspaper.

Arena, who entered as an interim coach but could not deliver the US squad a qualifying spot, had a base salary of $899,348 and received another $300,000 after resigning in October 2017.

A US Soccer spokesman told the Post no more money is owed to either Arena, Herzog or Klinsmann.

Assistant Dave Sarachan served as an interim coach with a salary of $223,656.

Gregg Berhalter was named the new coach of the US squad in December and won his first two friendlies in charge of the team earlier this year.
