Olympiakos replace sacked coach Martins with Corberan

Olympiakos on Monday executed a swift change of manager, sacking Pedro Martins and appointing Carlos Corberan in his place.

Corberan, 39, takes the helm at the Greek club after a two-year spell in charge of Huddersfield Town, guiding the team to the Championship play-off final.

He was previously assistant coach to Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United for two seasons and coached their Under-23 squad.

Martins, 52, recently signed a two-year extension to his contact but was axed after an embarrassing 4-0 home loss to Maccabi Haifa in last week's Champions League qualifier.

He led Olympiakos to three league titles (2020-2022) and one Greek Cup (2020) and in 221 matches came away with 134 wins, 41 draws and 37 losses.
