Mexican international forward Raul Jimenez has left Atletico Madrid to sign a five-year deal with Benfica, the Portuguese champions announced on Thursday.

Portuguese press reports said Benfica would pay nine million euros ($10m, £6.4m) for Jimenez, although they will only obtain 50 percent of the player's rights, with the rest being retained by super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Jimenez, 24, has scored eight times in 36 appearances for Mexico. He joined Atletico last year from Club America.
