Sochaux announced on Friday that former defender Omar Daf will take charge of the club on an interim basis while they seek a permanent successor for Eric Hely, who resigned on Wednesday.

Former Senegal international Daf, 36, spent 13 seasons as a player at the club in two spells before retiring in May.

Hely quit after a 5-1 defeat at Guingamp on Wednesday which left the Peugeot-backed club stalled at the bottom of the Ligue 1 table with just two points after seven games.

Media reports in France on Friday linked Uruguayan former Nancy coach Pablo Correa and Herve Renard, the Zambia coach, with the vacant position.
