Assaidi returns to Stoke on loan

Morocco winger Oussama Assaidi has rejoined Stoke City on a season-long loan from Liverpool, the Britannia Stadium club announced on Monday.

Assaidi spent last season on loan at Stoke, scoring five goals in 25 appearances, and they have spent a reported loan fee of £1 million ($1.6 million, 1.3 million euros) to bring him back to the club.

"Ozzy was someone we were interested in earlier in the window, so we're delighted with that," Stoke manager Mark Hughes told Sky Sports News.

"You never give up on these things. There was still an opportunity, so we're delighted to get it over the line."

Assaidi, 26, has signed to provide cover for Nigeria international Peter Odemwingie, who has sustained a knee injury.

He is Stoke's seventh close-season signing after Mame Biram Diouf, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley, Bojan Krkic, Victor Moses and Dionatan Teixeira.
