Turkish winger joins West Ham on loan

Turkey international Gokhan Tore has joined West Ham United on a season-long loan from Besiktas with the option of a permanent move, the Premier League club said on Monday.

The German-born winger was part of Turkey's squad at Euro 2016 and helped Besiktas win the Turkish league title last season.

Tore, 24, also spent two years in Chelsea's youth academy and will be reunited with West Ham coach Slaven Bilic, who he played under at Besiktas.

"I am very happy to be at West Ham. I watched many games that they played last season and saw how passionate the fans are. That made me want to come here and I am looking forward to playing in front of them," Tore told the club's website.

"Slaven was also a big factor in me coming here and he is a great manager. He is the main man and knows me very well. I could not have said no to him.

"He is the best manager I have worked under and he is like a father to the players."

Tore was born in Cologne and spent time at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea before making his senior debut with Hamburg. He also had a short spell at Rubin Kazan in Russia prior to signing for Besiktas.
