Norwich narrow gap to leaders Sheffield United

Norwich moved to within a point of English second-tier leaders Sheffield United following a 1-0 win at Blackpool on Saturday.

Teemu Pukki's 21st-minute goal, his fourth in as many matches for the Canaries, proved decisive at Bloomfield Road.

Victory meant Norwich, looking to make an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation last season, had recorded a seventh win in eight league games.

Championship pacesetters Sheffield United's perfect home league record this term ended with a 1-1 draw against Birmingham at Bramall Lane.

The Blades led through Oli McBurnie's powerful 64th-minute shot, the striker's fifth goal in six games.

Troy Deeney, however, levelled six minutes later for mid-table Birmingham.

Mark Fotheringham's first game in charge of Huddersfield ended in a 3-1 loss away to third-placed Reading.

Tom McIntyre opened the scoring for the hosts in the 29th minute when he headed in a corner from Tom Ince -- the son of Reading manager and former England midfielder Paul Ince.

Terriers goalkeeper Lee Nicholls' unlucky own-goal doubled the lead seven minutes later and Yakou Meite made it 3-0 with nine minutes remaining, before Tom Lees managed a consolation goal for Huddersfield in added time.

Cardiff left it late to draw 1-1 with fourth-placed Burnley thanks to a 90th-minute equaliser from Callum Robinson that cancelled out a goal by the Clarets' on-loan Southampton midfielder Nathan Tell early in the second half.

Queens Park Rangers moved up to fifth with a 2-1 win at Bristol City.

First-half goals from Stefan Johansen and Tyler Roberts left the visitors well-placed before pulled one back against his old club shortly after the hour mark.

Blackburn Rovers returned to the play-off places -- only the top two clubs at the end of the regular season are guaranteed promotion -- with a 2-1 win over Millwall.

Second-half goals from Tyrhys Dolan (57) and Ben Brereton Diaz (63) put Rovers in control before Jake Cooper gave visitors Millwall hope of a draw 15 minutes from time.

Swansea won 3-2 in a see-saw match at West Bromwich Albion, with Karlan Grant's saved penalty nine minutes from time proving costly for the home side.

Matty Sorinola headed Swansea into a sixth-minute lead before Jake Livermore (48) and Grady Diangana (65) scored to put Albion in front only for Olivier Ntcham to equalise for the Swans in the 71st minute.

Swansea goalkeeper Steven Benda marked his 24th birthday when he saved substitute Grant's penalty and the visitors sealed victory a minute from time through Michael Obafemi's powerful shot.

Bottom club Coventry won for the first time this season -- at the eighth attempt -- after defeating Middlesbrough 1-0 courtesy of a 17th-minute goal from Viktor Gyokeres.

Sunderland dropped out of the play-off spots following a goalless draw with Preston while Wigan maintained their unbeaten away record with a 2-0 win at managerless Rotherham following goals from Will Keane and Tom Naylor.
