A brace of goals from Robin Van Persie lifted English Premier League champions Manchester United to a 2-0 victory Sunday over FA Cup winners Wigan in the season-opening Community Shield.
Van Persie struck in either half as David Moyes made a winning start to his career as United manager after replacing Alex Ferguson in the summer.
